At the Aria Hotel and Casino, the tallest building in the center rear, post-tensioned concrete floors are placed in a plan configuration of two intersecting arcs which split as they rise up to varying wing heights. The construction efficiency and structural functionality will support the beauty and comfort of the buildings. The project is part of the MGM Mirage CityCenter development in Las Vegas, Nev. Courtesy of Pelli Clark Pelli Architects. The phrase ‘time is money’ drives hospitality and gaming design. From the first wave of casinos in Atlantic City to the rapid expansion in Las Vegas, we have worked with owners to build on a greatly accelerated schedule. The design process and strategy must balance the need for early material orders for fast construction, and the need for creative designers to provide an eye-catching must-see destination. With such demands, last-minute changes are inevitable. We understand this process and provide the designer/owner team with strategies to increase design flexibility while minimizing schedule impact.
